How to Show Respect to Your Wife
Instructions
- Look and listen. Look people in the eye and listen to what they have to say. There are many times when people choose to share a part of themselves with you. If you honestly listen and invest yourself to giving them your full attention, it shows that you clearly respect them as human beings.
- Be honest. This can be difficult when you get into the realm of white lies such as "No, that haircut is amazing." White lies to spare someone's feelings are honestly a judgment call. But when it really counts, be honest with people, even if it hurts. Your word is everything, and if people cannot trust it, then it is worth nothing. Honesty is part of what makes a good relationship a trusting relationship. Remember, trust is a privilege, not a right. Earn it through your honesty.
- Respect yourself. If you don't respect yourself, you can't possibly expect to respect anyone else. This is not a cryptic necessity. The simple truth is that you need to be confident in yourself if you hope to have any positive relationship with others. How can you look someone in the eye, if you can't look at yourself in the mirror? How can you be honest with someone, if you aren't true to your own feelings? You can't, so don't be afraid to do a little soul searching.
- Take people as they are. Sometimes we don't get the people that we "want" in our lives. Sometimes we are surrounded by those who we need, so that we may grow. Just because someone is not perfect, or how you think he should be, doesn't mean that he doesn't have anything to offer. If you dig deep, you may find that he can teach you a thing or to, if you respect who he is.
- Lighten up. Give a compliment every now and then. Compliments show that you appreciate someone for she is and what she does. It makes her feel good. Sometimes you can make someone's entire day, or week, with a few words of encouragement. Try it and you'll find that it'll make you feel good too
